For the longest time I love simply just cooking soup for when its a bit horrible outside, and one of my personal favorites has to be this wonderful little experiment I did once cold autumn day.
Mixing Sweet Potato and butternut squash just simple makes sense. Both are filling and tasty and can make you feel all warm inside. There are countless yummy soup recipes out there that I highly recommend you try so being able to share you my own is important.

I mean, who doesn’t? Soup is easy to make and can be frozen for when you need it, anything and everything can go into it. There is nothing more delightful than cooking up a soup on a cold day and having the wonderful scents fill the home. It creates such a homely feeling and reminds me of my childhood of having soup for lunches, although mine were canned soups, but that doesn’t stop me from having little flash backs.
I personally feel one of the beauties of soup and making it is just the fact you can make it however you want it, I often with this soup add my own paprika or a little dash of butter and give it a more yummier taste. Its truly is something that can make anyone feel happy.
M A K E I T Y O U R S E L F
Sweet Potato and Butternut Squash Soup
- Large cooking pot or sauces pan
- 1 Large Butternut Squash
- 2 or 3 Sweet Potatoes
- 1 Onion
- 2 Cloves of Garlic
- 2 Pints Stock of Choice Mine was chicken
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- Peel and cut up the squash and potatoes into dice sizes pieces
- Soften the onion in some oil with the garlic
- Add in the Squash and Potatoes and cook for 5 minutes.
- Add in stock and leave to simmer for an hour until veg is soft
- Take off heat and leave to cool slightly
- Blend up and serve with crusty bread!
